Here are the features of a news article. Here is a reminder of what the features mean:

Direct speech - Quoting exactly what somebody says using speech marks/ inverted commas.

Indirect speech - Report what someone says, but not quoting it word for word. No speech marks are needed.

Headlines/subheadings - The main title and mini-titles in the article.

Parenthesis - Extra information added using brackets or commas.
