Maths - Line Graphs Problem Solving - Friday 19th June

Good morning year 5,

As you have been looking at line graphs over the last few days, I thought it would be a good idea to look at some problem solving questions involving line graphs.

Here are my tips for tackling this sort of question:

1. Read the title of the graph so you understand what the graph shows.
2. Look at the graph axis and make sure you understand what units of measure are being used.
3. Read the question about the graph carefully. Are you being asked to INTERPRET the graph or ADD information to it?

Here's problem 1:

Here's problem 2.

Here is question 3. Think about the shape of the line for your answer to this one.

And here is the final problem solving question.

Science Challenge - Forces 2

Hi year 5,

It's Mr Hissey again. Last time we looked at a basic introduction to FORCES in the form of pushes and pulls. Today we will look at the force of GRAVITY. Watch the following videos to remind yourself of what gravity is.

Task: Write a short explanation for how gravity is acting upon each of the objects in these pictures.

Challenge

Research the following question - Is the force of gravity on the moon stronger or weaker than on the earth?

How would this affect a person that travelled to the surface of the moon?
