Maths - Tuesday 30th June

Hi year 5,

Your maths challenge today focuses on drawing lines and angles accurately. Again if you don't have a protractor you could estimate the angles. Also the are protractor apps on the Apple Store and Google Play that use your phone camera. Many of them are free.

Maths Challenge - Monday 29th June (Angles)

Hi year 5,

Art Challenge 3 - Texture Rubbings

Hi year 5,

Here is your art lesson for this week.

This lesson involves you collecting objects with an interesting texture from around the home and creating a RUBBING on to paper using a pencil.

Create some texture rubbings of surfaces from around your home. You should be able to fit multiple rubbings on the same page. You could also label them with the name of the surface you use for the rubbing, like this example:

Maths Challenge - Problem Solving Questions

Hi year 5,

Just a few problem solving questions for you this morning. I will put the answers up this afternoon. Remember:

1. Read the question carefully - more than once if necessary.
2. Select or highlight the important information.
3. Carefully consider any units needed in the answer e.g. £, kg, cm etc...
4. Display your calculation for harder questions.
5. Check through your working and answers.

Science Challenge - Forces (Final Lesson)

Good morning year 5,

Today we are going to finish our science learning with a mini-test to see what we have learnt and remember about forces. Here are my tips:

1. Read each question carefully.
2. Think carefully about any scientific vocabulary in the question - e.g. friction, gravity etc...
3. Try to make your answer to the questions carefully.

We will be looking at more decimals today. In this lesson you will be dividing them by 10, 100 and 1000. Remember, when we divide a decimal by 10, 100 or 1000 the digits will move to the right of the place value columns.
