Science Challenge - Forces

Hello year 5,

It's Mr Hissey here. I hope you are all well. Over the next few weeks I will be setting some home learning for you to do around the area of FORCES in science.


The first thing I would like you to do, to get you thinking about forces, is watch the following video about pushes and pulls.



Task 1: Using the ideas around pushes and pulls discussed in the video,  sketch and label 5 examples of objects which can have a push or pull force applied to them. Try to label the direction of the force using an arrow and whether it is a pushing or pulling force. Here's an example:


Objects you might choose to sketch could include:
1. A car moving
2. A football being kicked
3. Somebody jumping
4. A bird flying
5. A bullet being fired from a gun.

Remember there will almost always be more than one force acting on the object. For example gravity is always present and pulling objects.
