Science Challenge - Forces 4

Welcome to lesson 4 of our FORCES topic.

As a warm-up try to write a definition for these words we have covered so far:

Force
Gravity
Friction

If you are stuck, go back and watch the video from the previous lessons.

Today we will be looking at a very similar force to friction - AIR RESISTANCE. This occurs when an object moves though the air.

Here's a video to help you understand the concept:

Task - Make a paper parachute. Can you make a paper parachute which slow the fall of an object to the ground. If you have a small Lego figure that would be ideal, but you could make one out of paper or card.

Here are some ideas:

Challenge: Can you come up with some way of proving/testing how effective your parachute works? You might think about timing how long the object takes to fall to the ground both WITH and WITHOUT the parachute.
